About Me
Hello, I’m Sanako! I’m originally from Saitama, Japan, and spent several years living in Richmond, BC, Canada, where I attended local schools and became fluent in both English and Japanese. This allows me to connect naturally with children and communicate smoothly with international families visiting Japan.
I’ve always enjoyed caring for young children. During my time in Canada, I regularly helped look after children at church with my homestay family, and it quickly became something I loved. Currently, I babysit for local families on a weekly basis and continue to gain experience working with children of different ages.
Some of my favorite things to do with kids include making picture books together, putting on mini plays, playing card games, and creating fun crafts. I enjoy sewing, crocheting, and drawing, so hands-on, creative activities are something I naturally bring to my time with children. I always aim to make the experience enjoyable not just for the child, but for myself as well. When I’m having fun, the children usually are too.
Many children feel at ease with me, and I think that’s because I try to be like a kind and attentive older sister. I want to be someone they can trust, have fun with, and feel comfortable being themselves around. I also love sharing Japanese culture in playful and age-appropriate ways, whether through origami, otedama (Japanese juggling), or traditional stories.
My goal is to create a safe, fun, and relaxed environment where children can feel happy and engaged, and where parents can enjoy their time in Japan with peace of mind. I look forward to meeting your family and spending a joyful time with your little ones!
