Kia Ora! My name is Olivia, and I’m 25 years old from beautiful New Zealand. I recently moved to Japan and have been living here for the past couple of months. Since arriving, I have fallen in love with the culture, kindness, and everyday life here. Living abroad has encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone, embrace new experiences, and learn more about Japanese culture while building a life in a country I have always wanted to explore.

Family has always been at the heart of who I am. I come from a large, close-knit family where we all live near one another and spend a lot of time together. I am the second oldest of five siblings and the only girl. There is quite a big age gap between me and my two youngest brothers, so I naturally took on a caring role from a young age.

I spent countless hours babysitting my younger brothers, changing nappies, preparing meals and bottles, helping with bath time, reading bedtime stories, playing games, and making sure they always felt safe, happy, and loved. These experiences taught me patience, responsibility, and how rewarding it is to help children learn and grow.

Alongside caring for my siblings, I have also looked after the children of family friends and neighbours, giving me experience with children of different ages and personalities. Whether we are building LEGO creations, doing arts and crafts, reading books, exploring a local park, or simply enjoying imaginative play, I love creating a fun, calm, and engaging environment where children can feel comfortable being themselves.

I also hold a university degree, which has strengthened my communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills. These are qualities I bring into every childcare role. I understand how important trust is when leaving your child in someone else’s care, and I pride myself on being reliable, attentive, and approachable.

I believe every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and encouraged while their parents enjoy some well-earned time to themselves. Whether you are visiting Japan on holiday or simply need an extra helping hand, I would be delighted to support your family.
